Board Members

President
Robert Foley
Bob Foley was a member of the Alliance Francaise de Houston for more than 25 years while living and working in corporate finance there. He was also a member of their board for six years before retiring to Tucson, joining classes at our local chapter, and taking on the role of President for our Alliance Francaise Board. All the members of Bob’s family are Francophiles and have visited the country many times. Bob loves the Cote du Rhone region of France (especially their wines). He believes strongly in the mission of the Alliance Francaise and loves participating in our activities.

Secretary
Elaine Kramer
After receiving her degree in French from Marquette University, Elaine Kramer set out to France to pursue any job that would require her to speak French. She worked at for a large international corporation and served as a substitute secretary for numerous companies. She eventually went to Brussels, accompanying her husband whose job was in international electronic sales. She formed her own company consulting in computers and software for executives and small international companies in both English and French. Eventually Elaine and her husband returned to Washington, DC where she joined Alliance Française. She continued with our local Alliance when she moved to Tucson. Elaine enjoys group discussions in French and helping with special events.

Vice President
Mary Carryer
Mary Carryer is a retired banking executive. She spent her high school and university years in Canada where she first learned French. She moved to Tucson with her husband in 2007, splitting her time between here and a second home in the Dordogne until 2017. Mary has been a member of the Alliance Française for many years, first in Berkeley and San Francisco and now in Tucson. She has an MBA in Finance from UC Berkeley and is Vice Chair of the Board of Parkinson Wellness Recovery! based in Tucson. In addition to speaking French, Mary is working to develop her Spanish skills. She participates in conversation groups and the Cercle Littéraire at the AFT, and enjoys working with the Board to continually improve our organization.

Member at Large
Lee Marvin
Lee loves languages and is a 50+ year Francophile. She has been on the boards of her Tucson cycling club and French club at her former employer. After retiring from engineering spacecraft and ground stations, she has put her skills to organizing plants and rocks (aka landscaping) and volunteering at a cancer center and wildlife center. The latter two jobs were halted in 2020 with COVID, so she was happy to resume volunteering activities at the Alliance Francaise de Tucson – and do it in French.

Treasurer
Vicky Yuki
Vicky Yuki is an engineer and manager at Raytheon in Tucson. She is a wife for 22 years, mother of two students at the University of Arizona, and quadriplegic since the age of 18. She was first exposed to French as a child when her mother, a Francophile, would frequently play Jacques Brel albums in their home. She started studying French in middle school and quickly fell in love with the language. She has been a member of Alliance Française in Tucson for almost 10 years and continues to enjoy exploring French language and culture through travel, reading, and lessons.
